Ever feel you are besieged by patients with impossible questions
on the one hand, and on the other hand managed care is questioning
whether you are doing anything reasonable, and will you be done soon?
(These are the main sources of therapist burn-out and isolation.)
Welcome to the world of Mental Health, as designed by Wall Street.
Therapists of the world, Unite!
The First TherapyCooperative is a crossroads
where therapists help each other
The majority of patients work well with one therapist.
A minority lack the skill to organize the necessities of life
and the coordination of relations with different care-givers.
They split or simply cannot sustain relations.
To do effective treatment, if the patient needs several sources,
the therapist may need to help organize relationships.
The First Therapy Cooperative is aimed at helping that process
Why should a clinician belong?
It's a central source of information about agencies in Milwaukee
and vital information on the web
You could belong to get a kick out of seeing a patient succeed
(the main source of gratification in doing the job)
Your name is listed as a therapist who wants to collaborate, linking you to like-minded therapists.
You get the satisfaction of knowing you do as good a job as possible with a tough case.
Or that it's reasonable to resign with honor
You might get stars as a recognition from colleagues
You might get some referrals but the First Therapy Coop will not be a "pipeline" of patients.
Identities of both patients and therapists will be thoroughly blocked, not available on the web, to insure privacy.
Bimonthly face-to-face meetings let you see other therapists in the flesh, catch their tone and spirit, and have a chance to schmooze
